Logic vs pro tools
This program’s editing feature is much easier than Logic’s, making tasks like swiping, deleting and moving things around more efficient. Logic is great for song writers and MIDI producers, as it has a lot of the functions of Pro Tools, but the editing is a bit different.Īvid Pro Tools Layout – With this audio software, you can easily open up instrument rolls, tracks, audio, MIDI, etc. It comes with a MIDI editor for the various instruments, such as piano. Simply drag and drop them where you want them, and Logic puts it in time with the tempo of that session. PRO TOOLS VS LOGIC PRO X: THE LAYOUT DIFFERENCESĪpple Logic Pro X Layout – This audio recording tool has a loop library where you can quickly choose loops, strings, etc. All of this makes the workflow of Pro Tools less smooth than that of Logic Pro. However, Apple’s Logic Pro makes it much easier to manipulate MIDI. So, writers will need 3rd-party apps to create some of the unique sounds they want to bring to life. Also, there are nowhere near as many instruments in this audio recording program. It’s a great program for writers.Īvid Pro Tools, on the other hand, has the ability to do the same things, but 3rd-party apps are usually needed. All of this makes it a very efficient tool if smooth workflow is a top priority.
Logic vs pro tools software#
This audio software makes sampling sequencing easier, and there’s a lot of instrumenting involved. Logic Pro’s user interface is much easier to maneuver and get around than Pro Tools. PRO TOOLS VS LOGIC PRO X: WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES? Logic Pro – More popular as an audio recording program for musicians, songwriters, jingle producers, prosumer base, etc.Popular as a tool for music production, post-production, recording bands and broadcasting. Pro Tools – More of an industry standard audio recording software.Yet, each one is preferred by different industry professionals: Generally, they both do the same things and perform the same functions. On the surface, both Pro Tools and Apple Logic Pro are digital audio workstations or DAWs. But, there are two that tend to shine above many: Avid Pro Tools and Apple Logic Pro. When it comes to audio recording software, the market is flooded with endless choices. But, there are some major differences between the two that audio engineering professionals need to know about… or, are the differences really all that major? This is just a small sample of what you can expect from an audio engineering school like F.I.R.S.T. They basically perform the same overall functions and are both very popular audio recording software options. They lost a great program. On the surface, Avid Pro Tools and Apple Logic Pro X are very similar.
Logic vs pro tools Pc#
What that means to us end users may vary, but it sure makes me feel good, even though I do feel sorry for all those PC Logic users who got the boot. Logic is no longer a third party product.
Could I have done it a little better and faster with PT? Maybe, but it still got done.Īnd another twist. What is stated often is that Logic is a better MIDI sequencer, and PT handles audio better, but I have yet to be unable to do anything I needed to do audio-wise with Logic. There is not much you wouldn't be able to do with either program, so in the end, its the luck of the draw. Logic has a steep learning curve, but its well worth it, IMO.
Logic vs pro tools upgrade#
And the endless upgrade cycle that others love to complain about. But I find that the limitation on audio hardware with PTLE is a negative factor. Now if we're talking PTHD, then.īoth rely on the native processing power, so that's no factor. Pro tools has the name, and that's good, but IMO, Logic is the better choice, over PTLE. I'm a Logic User for two years now, and I absolutely swear by it. I basically agree with michael's assessment. Sound too general? Sorry, but I guess at the end of the day, the last sentence is basicly how I view the best practical purposes of the two. But both can do either and pretty well too. Most however use Logic for music production and most use Protools for film/video related editing. If you plan on using mainly audio files in your production then Protools may have the advantage. If you plan on recording multiple inputs simultaneously, both are good. In a very general way, I will try to respond by saying that Protools might be better for you if you are interested in editing audio for film and television while Logic's sequencing capabilities are superior.
I will tell you that both are superior products and that both are capable of a lot of the same results. I would be difficult to give you a quality answer about whether Logic or Protools is better because there are too many variables to take into consideration.
